Answers to common questions about Anchorline and the log model.

What is an append-only log?

An append-only log records every update as a new entry. Anchorline never edits data in place, so you can replay any log to a previous state and see what changed.

How are balances different from collections?

Balances track numeric quantities that increase or decrease. Collections track discrete items like inventory, clients, or bookmarks. Both share the same immutable timeline and support child logs.

Can I import and export my data?

You can always ask for a copy of your workspace data. During the alpha, we’re happy to help with one-off imports or exports—just reach out and we’ll coordinate a format that works for you.

How do child logs work?

Attach a log as a child of another to create hierarchies. Parent logs show roll-ups without destroying the child’s independent history.

Can I share my logs with family or friends?

Yes. Invite trusted people to your workspace with view-only or edit access, and revoke permissions anytime. Shared history makes it easy to stay aligned.

What happens if I cancel?

Your workspace goes into read-only mode. You can request a copy of your data, and we’ll work with you to make sure you have what you need.
