Answers to common questions about Anchorline and the ledger model.

What is an append-only ledger?

An append-only ledger records every update as a new entry. Anchorline never edits data in place, so you can replay any ledger to a previous state and prove what changed.

How are balances different from collections?

Balances track numeric quantities that increase or decrease. Collections track discrete items like inventory, clients, or bookmarks. Both share the same immutable timeline and support child ledgers.

Can I import and export my data?

Yes. Use CSV or NDJSON imports to bring in historical records, and export anytime with deterministic ordering and stable IDs. The Docs section includes field maps and sample payloads.

How do child ledgers work?

Attach a ledger as a child of another to create hierarchies. Parent ledgers show roll-ups without destroying the child’s independent history.

Can I share my ledgers with family or friends?

Yes. Invite trusted people to your workspace with view-only or edit access, and revoke permissions anytime. Shared history makes it easy to stay aligned.

What happens if I cancel?

Your workspace goes into read-only mode, and you retain full export access. We guide you through downloading NDJSON or CSV archives.
